About the Role

This position supports the Property Fleet and Emergency Management Section as the technical expert for the contract administration of the wet, dry and transport tenders for the Townsville City Council.

This specialised position operates in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and is the first point of contact for all internal stakeholders and external contractors/suppliers to the Property Fleet and Emergency Management Section, and with knowledge across the section, is responsible for all administrative and technical functions of the section. This includes but not limited to: contractor management, contract administration, Plant Allocation, process improvement, system maintenance, works request, procurement, financial processing, reporting, and fleet requests/enquiries.

About you

To fulfill the requirements of this role it is essential you have experience in procurement, including contracts management/administration and bulk invoice processing. You will have at least 2 years’ experience working across the same or similar functions and experience with plant and equipment including allocation, scheduling and logistics. You will also require advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products and a Current “C” class drivers licence.

Other requirements include highly developed organisation and prioritisation skills and problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to exercise judgment and initiative where procedures and practices are not clearly defined. You will be able to adopt a flexible mind set and work well within a small team and recognise opportunity within change by supporting and/or leading the establishment of process improvement processes, practices and procedures. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience working with project teams or resources in a supportive and collaborative work culture.

Desirably you will have knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Legislation and Basic Fatigue Management, a good working knowledge with fleet maintenance and legislation and a working knowledge of council systems including ECM and CES.
