Job description

The Microgrid Power Group was established in New South Wales in 2018 and has since then established offices in NSW, VIC and QLD to meet the growing demand for renewable energy and energy-saving solutions across Australia.

The Microgrid Power team is in search of a skilled Embedded Networks - Retail Energy Sales Professional, that will drive Retail Energy Sales for SME & C&I commercial customers, to join their team. This role is responsible for dealing directly with customers and selling Microgrid Power Retail energy agreements to meet the company goals. 

Microgrid Power is a registered electricity retailer and embedded network operator.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly responsible individual to expand our presence in the Energy Market through our Embedded Network Retail Energy Division called Microgrid Power. This position involves account management of existing customers and cold and warm calling of new potential clients and signing them up as Microgrid Power Retail Energy customers.

The position reports directly to the General Manager – Sales & Communications.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Sell Retail Energy contracts & energy solutions to SME & C&I commercial customers
  • Build, manage, and maintain customer contact lists and databases
  • Ensure customers understand fully what they are agreeing to before getting Explicit Informed Consent (EIC)
  • Obtain Explicit Informed Consent (EIC) for all sales
  • Interface and partner with the internal tele-sales team
  • Responsible for ensuring that the commercial structure of contracts meets the short and long term commercial objectives of the Business, focusing on maximising revenue opportunities at the lowest optimum price.
  • Resolve conflicts and provide solutions to customers in a timely manner
  • Maintain a pipeline status within company CRM, reporting the status of accounts and transactions
  • Adhere to all scripting and compliance processes to deliver a compliant and positive customer experience.
  • In conjunction with the GM Sales & Communications, support the business’ financial objectives by meeting agreed targets
  • Working with the MGP Project Manager and other business advisors to ensure that project delivery schedules coincide with agreed site specific ‘Go Live’ dates to optimise the commercial outcomes of projects.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the financial performance of all projects, including the early identification of areas of potential exposure.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and advise on implications to the business and preparing risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist in the continued development of materials and training for MGP sales activities at all levels in conjunction with CEO/COO and MGP GM.
  • Assist in the continued review of existing sales related systems with CEO/COO and MGP GM and Executives
  • Maintain all internal systems including Pipedrive & other systems implemented from time to time

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Retail Energy Sales and customer service and support
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in understanding & onboarding customers through the Explicit Informed Consent process
  • Minimum 5 years experience in selling retail & C&I energy agreements Retail Energy Sales or similar function

Preferred but not Essential

  • An understanding of managing the commercial and operational aspects of solar, PPAs, embedded networks, demand control systems, VPPs. 
  • An understanding of the current challenges faced by the energy industry and MGP target markets.
  • Strong alignment with core business values, passionate about excellence in safety outcomes & helping workmates develop to their full potential
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
