Venchi is a high end European Confectionery Company looking for a high calibre Retail (Business) Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in building a small team to sustain growth in Australia, starting with Sydney. The ideal candidate must be a passionate individual with proven sales and management experience within the hospitality or retail industry. You are commercially minded and have a passion for achieving objectives through all retail operation processes and have excellent staff management and client relationship skills. A results-oriented professional with a strategic mindset who has problem-solving skills in a fast moving and high end retail business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SALES AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
- Sales performance and budget with full P&L responsibility of the channels.
- Develop and implement retail & B2B strategies, define objectives and action plans to achieve sales targets.
- Analyse consumer and competitor trends and channels to identify and maximise market opportunities. Provide market insights and recommendations to management to elevate business performance in the territory.
- Explore new business opportunities and develop business cases for expansion plans to strengthen retail proximity and B2B (corporate sales) which rely on the presence and attractiveness of the retail experience.
- Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control measures are in place to meet financial targets.
- Provide sales analysis, reports and propose relevant business plans for management review.
RETAIL OPERATIONS AND CROSS-FUNCTION COLLABORATION
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience, including visual merchandising, store layout, customer service standards, loyalty programs and compliance to ensure company's standards and KPIs are achieved.
- Monitor retail performance and launch focused action plans with clearly articulated objectives to improve results.
- Regularly review workflow and processes to optimise efficiency and drive for operational excellence.
- Provide insights and recommendations on product offerings, pricing, and promotions to drive sales and maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborate with Marketing team by providing market insights to define the most relevant promotional activities to accelerate sales performance and customer experience.
- Work with Demand Planner and Supply Chain team to perform effective stock control to maximise sales performance. Oversee sales & inventory analysis, operating cost, develop sales and performance reports for management review and to take appropriate actions.
- Work with HR Department to review and fine-tune sales incentive program on regular basis so to drive staff & sales performance and efficiency.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and IT to ensure alignment and coordination of activities including but not limited to new store openings and renovation projects.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Lead and coach retail team. Supervise a team of store managers and develop the team by providing guidance & support through timely feedback. Foster a positive and inclusive work culture and environment.
- Monitor and analyse objectives to evaluate the performance of stores B2B channel and identify areas for improvement. Develop action plans to address any performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.
- Work with Training Manager to define training needs and develop talents with necessary skills so to drive excellence in customer service & sales performance.
- Collaborate with HR department on team development, strength talent pipeline and people development to solidify the team structure and capability.
CORPORATE SALES (B2B)
- The role will also develop the corporate sales channel. Including identifying, contacting, and proposing commercial terms for relevant businesses partners. Corporate sales will be managed by Retail (Business) Manager until such time as the B2B and retail channels have grown significantly and a new position may be incorporated to support the growth.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Business Studies, Finance or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in retail industry, preferably from high end food and beverage retail / fashion or beauty.
- Strong financial acumen, track record in managing retail stores.
- Strong leadership skills with exceptional presentation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, business acumen and interpersonal skills.
- Languages – Mandarin considered an advantage.
- Ability to travel locally and internationally.
