About us:
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc. is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for, or alleviate, the needs of disadvantaged people in the community.
Our retail network of stores plays an important role in delivering on our Mission, as proceeds from sales go directly into funding various programs such as providing emergency relief, accommodation assistance, food support, and other services.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Victor Harbor as a Casual Retail Shop Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
- In the absence of the Shop Manager, perform such duties of volunteer supervision and the opening and closing of the store.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure visual merchandising, category layout, stock presentation, and stock rotation standards are maintained.
- Process donations in preparation in sale.
- Maintain a tidy and organised store environment.
- Act in a manner that fosters a friendly, helpful, caring, and compassionate environment for customers, and colleagues.
- Encourage and promote material donations to the Society.
What we are looking for:
- Previous retail experience is a plus.
- Post Secondary qualifications relevant to the role, such as Certificate III in retail is desirable
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience working in not for profit organisation is a plus.

Special Conditions:
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory National Police Checks and pre-employment health checks.
- Weekend work will be required.
- The Retail Assistant position is physically demanding, requiring lifting, standing for long periods, and other tasks.
