The Role:
We have a permanent full-time position for a Return-to-Work Officer, based in our Head Office at Tomago. The role will form part of our Group Health, Safety and Environment team, providing proactive and responsive Return-to-Work services across the group, as well as on the ground support for safety initiatives at our Tomago site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with multiple sites at a group level, this is a great opportunity where you will:
- Liase with workers, managers, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to coordinate the return-to-work process across all Varley sites
- Develop and implement return-to-work plans in collaboration with workers, managers and relevant external stakeholders, with reference to medical advice, certificate(s) of capacity and other relevant documentation
- Provide support and guidance to Workers throughout the return-to-work process
- Provide advice and support to managers and workers on WHS matters
- Attend to injury/incidences in person where available
- Identify and implement strategies to prevent incidents, injures and illnesses in the workplace
- Support proactive health monitoring obligations and initiatives across all sites
- Ensure compliant, detailed and current documentation of return-to-work activities and record keeping
- Assist with the development and delivery of training programs related to return-to-work and injury prevention
Skills and Experience:
To be considered for this role you will:
- Have a degree or diploma in Health and Safety or a relevant discipline
- Highly effective communication and administration skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Able to multi-task, prioritise workload and align to business needs
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and partner with key internal stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of the WHS Act, WHS Regulations and model Codes of Practice
- Understanding of best practice processes and how to ensure compliance with legislative obligations
- Sound computer skills including the Microsoft suite of programs.
- Exposure to Health and Safety software systems is favorable.
