The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionateLeader to join our dedicated team of Aviators reporting directly tothe Head of Flying Operations.

You will provide oversight and leadership in setting andmaintaining required standards for our Rotary Fleet and will ensurethat all standard operating procedures, manuals and technicalguidance material meet the most current accepted practice for theRotary or Fixed Wing type, ensuring regulatory compliance and crossfleet alignment where possible.

The Rotary Wing Fleet Manager will be responsible for a range ofSafety, regulatory compliance, day to day operations, policy andprocedure design and development, departmental documentation,leadership of flight crew and content development through variousforums.

Other Role Responsibilities include:-

• Preparation of regular flight operations reports for the Head of Flying Operations and Director of Engineering.
• Provision of accurate and timely advice to the Head of Flying Operations for any matter that may affect the safety and efficiency of the operation.
• Provision of technical advice in the evaluation of equipment, new and emerging technologies and proposed fleet changes.
• Providing mentorship and support for crew in matters relating to the operations and professional development.
• To continuously improve the safety and efficiency of the operation.
• To collaborate with the Head of Training and Checking (HOTAC) and Part 142 Head of Operations (HOO) to ensuring that crew are trained to meet the set standard.
• Ensuring your fleet is sufficiently resourced with qualified crew that meet our regulatory and contractual obligations for your areas of operation.
• Working with the Head of Human Resources and Senior Base Pilots helping to resolve any Work Rule, EBA and performance issues related to the fleet.
• Ensuring that Crews maintain a high standard of dress and behaviours to maintain a strong CareFlight image to employees and customers.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• detailed in-depth understanding and knowledge of safety principles, aircraft operating systems and processes, Australian Aviation legislation, regulations and compliance requirements including Civil Aviation Regulations (1988), the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (1998) and the Civil Aviation Orders, departmental operation policies, procedures and processes and the Pilots’ EBA and how it affects the Rotary or Fixed Wing Operation;
• a strong understanding of the impact rule changes will have on the Flight Operation and an ability to conceptually analyse aircraft fleet changes, changes associated with new operations and translate this to detailed action plans for the fleet operations;
• the ability to analyse, interpret and report on changes to aircraft requirements and its impact on Fleet Operations and an ability to critically assess safety and other legislation to provide an analysis of potential impact to fleet operations;
• the ability to understand technical publications and communicate technical data in a way that will be understood by the pilot group; and
• a proven ability to analyse data in many forms and provide accurate and reliable advice to the HOFO/Chief Pilot including recommendations based on the analysis

Essential Technical Skills

• previous experience in a senior operational aviation management position;
• demonstrated experience with operational, business and budget planning processes to support organisational objectives;
• the ability to effectively manage multiple demands, in a high volume, rapidly changing environment;
• excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
• extensive experience in an aeromedical or firefighting role;
• a CASA issued ATPL (H);
• a current Class 1 Medical;
• 2000 Hours helicopter command;
• 500 hours multi-engine helicopter command;
• AW139 or BK117 Type Rating;
• instrument Rating multi-engine helicopter;
• NVIS Rating;
• current Dangerous Goods Course; and
• current HUET Course

Essential Non-Technical Skills

• the ability to implement company policy and procedures;
• ability to influence and negotiate with others building positive relationships;
• demonstrated expertise in time management and organisational skills;
• a self-discipled approach with the ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• the ability to work under pressure; and
• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

In addition to the above, the following will also behighly desirable:

• Flight instructor and flight examiner rating with appropriate endorsements for the activities conducted by the organisation.
• Proficiency in Air Maestro.
