About the location
Home to the Wathaurung, Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung peoples, Wyndham is known as a spirit of a true Kimberley outback town. Wyndham is situated 105 km northwest of Kununurra on the Great Northern Highway.
Things to do
The town is surrounded by some of Kimberley’s most spectacular landforms, rivers, and wetlands, offering a host of outback adventures. Wyndham has two known attractions: Wyndham Port, which is the original townsite and where most of the historical attractions are located. The other one is Wyndham Town, the residential and shopping district.
Moochalabra Dam is an attraction near Wyndham, it is along the King River Road. If you’re looking for a nice picnic spot, this is the perfect place for you. 30 km out of the town, on the highway back to Kununurra, you will find the Grotto which is a popular waterfall and plunge pool.
Wyndham sits on the edge of the gulf or the ocean and it will make you feel like it’s the edge of the world—its desolate landscapes will also captivate you.
How to get there
Flights are available from all major Australian cities via Darwin, Broome and Perth. Wyndham is 1hr north of Kununurra by road.
