About the MRGTP
The Murrumbidgee Rural Generalist Training Pathway (MRGTP) provides a tailored, coordinated pathway for doctors wanting to become Rural Generalists (RGs). It is the first and currently only training pathway in NSW where a RG trainee is employed by a single employer within the one local health district for up to 4 years (dependant on the stage they join the program). Throughout this time, the trainee rotates through a bespoke range of placements within the Murrumbidgee area, dependent on the advanced skills the trainee wishes to develop and the needs of the local communities. Placements will be in General practices, and including on-call, inpatient and ED coverage at local rural hospitals, and at Wagga Wagga and Griffith Hospitals for Advanced Skills Training placements.
About the positions
The positions are for trainees at be at PGY 3 level or above, including those who have already completed some components of GP Training. We encourage all trainees at any stage in training who are interested to apply.
Trainees will be offered a 1,2,3 or 4 year contract, dependent on the stage they enter the pathway. Remuneration will align with medical specialty training registrars.
Being employed by MLHD for the duration provides trainees with certainty about location, income and working conditions for the duration of the pathway. These include on-call, work hours and leave entitlements such as long service and maternity leave.
You will be placed in a General Practice(s) within MLHD that are participating with the pathway and will work in the practice and the local hospital. Similarly, for your AST when appropriate.
Placements, supervision, career support and progress are assisted by MLHD.
You will enjoy the fulfilment and sense of connectedness that comes from being embedded as a known and valued member of the MLHD medical team from day one.
