Ballina District Hospital is seeking a Health Clinician to provide specialised support to Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) residents with a Spinal Cord Injury and relevant clinician’s/service providers in the NNSWLHD.   
The Rural Spinal Cord Injury Coordinator (RSCIC) role comprises several key components:
  • Client care coordination and management;
  • Support of the state SCI service clinic outreach model,
  • Facilitation of education and support to clinician’s in the NNSWLHD.

This vacancy is maternity leave relief for an initial period of up to (vacancy period) for (hours per week); the hours and period of employment may change according to the maternity leave requirements.  There is also the possibility of an extension at same / reduced hours.

If you have/are:

  • Tertiary qualifications and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in any of the following disciplines: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work. To be appointed as Level 4 Health Professional evidence must be provided of three years' clinical experience and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a level 4 practitioner OR CNC1 - current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and a minimum of 5 years' full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 3 years’ full time equivalent experience in Spinal Cord Injury or related field and post graduate qualifications in an area related to the clinical specialty
  • Clinical experience in the management of people with Spinal Cord Injury within a community or inpatient setting
  • Leadership to utilise problem solving skills and a multidisciplinary team approach in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care and ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload in order to meet service accountabilities
  • Ability to provide clinical consultancy across the NNSWLHD in order to support clients and clinicians
