We have an excellent opportunity for student nurses and midwifes looking to kickstart their career. As a RUSON/RUSOM you will provide assistance to the health care team, assisting the registered nurse/midwife to provide delegated aspects of patient care. Elements of patient care will be delegated in accordance with the professional judgement of the supervising registered nurse/midwife, and in accordance with the level of achieved educational preparation and assessed competence of the individual RUSON/RUSOM.
This program is an excellent career opportunity for student midwives and nurses, allowing you to gain employment experience in a supportive and professional environment. Shifts will be allocated in the Emergency, Medical, Surgical and Maternity Units. We are also excited to offer positions in our 2 aged care facilities- Andrews House (Trafalgar) and Cooinda Lodge (Warragul). These are part time positions of between 8-32 hours per week. Shifts will be worked across 7 days. Exact hours will be negotiated with the successful applicants.
These positions are fixed term and will conclude when either:
- The employee terminates their employment, or
- On being granted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse of Midwife, or
- When the employee withdraws, defers or fails their undergraduate degree.
We are seeking applicants who have:
- A current enrolment and have successfully completed the first 12 months of an undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery &/or a Bachelor of Nursing qualification.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is desirable
- A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully vaccinated (3 doses) for COVID-19 (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

The new hospital is set to feature 233-beds and 33 emergency department treatment spaces as well as aged care and an expanded maternity facility.

All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
