What you'll be doing
The Social Worker position within Safeguards Team, provides specialist integrated psychosocial responses to consumers who experience complex and severe mental health conditions. This role provides specific recovery oriented interventions including but not limited to, specialist crisis/therapeutic medium to long-term counselling, referral, and liaison with carers and family members within a trauma informed context. This position provides quality clinical and social work services to consumers and carers with an aim of optimal outcomes.
The Safeguards Team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings (EDs/Wards), through face to face, phone and telehealth
appointments.
Selection Criteria * Relevant qualifications as a Social Worker and eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families, including extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of social work practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
- Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive . All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
