About the role:Are you a driven and self-motivated professional with experience in workers compensation and/or injury management? We are seeking a Safety and Return to Work Specialist who will manage claims, injury management and Return to Work program activities to achieve safe, timely and durable Return to Work outcome. This role can be based in Launceston or Devonport.

Key responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Skillfully handle workers' compensation claims.
  • Return-to-Work Programs: Facilitate and coordinate effective return-to-work initiatives.
  • Expert Advice: Provide high-level advice to managers and employees on both compensable and non-compensable injuries and illnesses.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on the regulatory environment, and the legislation covering injury management.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Active communication with stakeholders and development of injury management plans.
  • Actively review claims with external insurer through collaborative claims review’s.
  • Negotiating outcomes with respective stakeholders to assist with return-to-work outcomes. Advising and providing case management support across a range of rehabilitation cases at various stages of their return-to-work journey.
  • Engaging with insured employers, injured employees, rehabilitation professionals, medical practitioners, general managers, executives and legal providers in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for all parties including producing regular reporting.
  • Contributing to excellent Return to Work outcomes and lead the end-to-end claims management life cycle.
  • Review and provide responses to internal audits, emerging trends and claims management practices. Producing monthly packs with trends, insights, and recommendations.
  • Working closely with Managers to assess areas of improvement regarding treatment management, injury prevention and early intervention.
  • Progress matters as a priority and meeting reporting standards whilst recommending action to reduce risks.
  • Actively participating in telephone and face to face discussions with treating health practitioners when reviewing management plans.
Requirements

Essential:

  • Allied Health background (preferable) and at least 3 years of technical experience across workers compensation schemes and injury management.
  • Understanding of invoicing procedures and file management.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel for reporting.
  • The ability to demonstrate resilience and navigate through challenging situations.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of organisation.
  • A strong sense of self, team and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of the principles of injury management process and rehabilitation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with sound knowledge of WHS.
  • High attention to detail, strong negotiation skills and out of the box thinking.
  • Knowledge of premium calculation and cost of claims impact (desirable).
