The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Actively promote a HS&E culture that shall mitigate the risk of injury to themselves and other personnel, damage to plant, equipment and environmental aspects of the operations.
- Implement and maintain safe systems of work in line of with ESHEMS and encourage involvement in the management of health and safety issues and the improvement of the Emeco groups health and safety performance.
- Coach, train, mentor and advise managers on a range of HSE issues and equip them with the appropriate HSE tools and knowledge to effectively lead and manage their people and to encourage safe behaviours and a positive proactive attitude towards safety management.
- Monitor and manage the event management system – Viking (MYOSH) to your delegated authority level accurately and in a timely manner as per ESHMS-12 – PRO-001 Incident Report and Investigation Procedure
- Undertake risk management activities to identify, eliminate and/or manage risks in the workplace; Assess risk/hazard of tasks through applying Task assessment and secondary Risk Assessment practices where needed (including "whole site" / broad-brush assessments)
- Strive to eliminate preventable work-related injuries and illness through the control of foreseeable hazards.
- Promptly report injuries and incidents according to company and site procedures ensuring that comprehensive investigations are completed. Lead and/or facilitate investigations with site management to ensure the root causes and corrective actions are

- Identify and correct unsafe acts including the installing of or managing the introduction of work place modifications to achieve improvements
- Actively participate in tool box and pre-start meetings and risk assessments
- Develop and implement Procedures, SWMS and authorisation process for high risk activities.
About you
- Drivers Licence
- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Diploma of Work Health and Safety (Preferred)
- ICAM Lead Investigator Training
- Cert IV Business (Leadership) (Preferred)
- Cert IV Training and Assessing TAE40116 (Preferred)
- Formal Certification in Auditing (Preferred
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively across all layers of an organisation and with any stakeholder group
- High level organisational and communication skills including effective negotiation with stakeholders and knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of relevant state mining and National Safety Legislation.
- Understanding of medical requirements and how these can be applied to medial review in accordance with work activities and customer requirements,
- Experience supporting maintenance and use of heavy mobile equipment frequently used in the mining industry
- Able to apply business, financial and technical strategic thinking concepts
- Strong leader with the ability to mentor, coach and delegate tasks
- Ability to develop presentations and present to a group or a work place
