Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Our Safety, Health and Enterprise Risk team's objective is simple - for everyone to go home safe and well, everyday.
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
Grosvenor Mine currently has an opportunity for a diligent and structured Safety Officer to join the Safety, Health and Environment Department, based in Moranbah, QLD. As Grosvenor Mine's Safety Officer - Data and Reporting is responsible to establish a standardised KPI system and provide actionable site-specific analysis and insights of site safety performance to site senior leadership as well as the central safety function.
Key accountabilities.
  • Ensure consistent application of safety & health principles in all site interactions within and beyond site boundaries: Actively challenge and act on unsafe behaviours without the fear of repercussions.
  • Advise and coach operations to enhance understanding of safety metrics: Support operational leaders on the appropriate use of measures, metrics and analytical tools to enhance incident investigation and incident management.
  • Analyse data (KPIs) and monitor performance regarding risk management: Collect accurate performance Data and promote the value of effective reporting and data management.
  • Support data collection and co-ordination of incident investigations
  • Conduct ad-hoc specialist safety reporting as required.
  • Support and monitor training in the use of the safety and health measures from the site access system.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Safety is highly desirable.
  • Extensive practical experience - highly desirable
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
  • Consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting and systems.
