Form of workReporting to the Group Manager of Safety and Sustainability, within a team of 15 to 20 team members across Australia, this position provides S&S governance, systems support and guidance to all elements of the business. This includes leadership of the S&S Integrated Management System (IMS), oversight of the Governance and Verification activities, leading audits using the business approved processes and providing coaching and mentoring to site leadership teams in the effective implementation of the IMS.
Additional areas of responsibility include providing advice and guidance to the business on compliance to applicable legislative obligations, public and contractual commitments and our workers compensation self-insurance license requirements.
This is permanent, Monday to Friday role based in Tomago however regular travel to sites to undertake S&S audits and provide S&S Management System training and support will be required.
About the Role
- Primary point of contact for S & S IMS. Creates and maintains Bis safety playbook i.e. Critical Risk/Verification, Site Safety Plans, Risk registers, Programs of work
- Plan, co-ordinate and lead internal S&S audits across the business in accordance with an established annual audit schedule
- Development and maintenance of the internal audit protocol to ensure it reflects the IMS
- Manager and conduct the independent 3rd party audit of our Comcare Self Insurance Licence as per our agreement, and assist in the preparation of the annual report to Comcare
- Assist in the preparation of the License Compliance & Performance Improvement Report (LCPI) for the Prevention component of our workers compensation self-insurance licence
- Develop reports on the outcomes of safety interventions, planned activities and audits for site use, and which can also be shared across the business to support our culture of being a ‘learning organisation’
- Support the functional team with the maintenance of S&S in accordance with Company retention schedules
- Support the business to ensure regulatory S&S reporting and record keeping are achieved
- Co-ordinate an annual Management Review of the S&S IMS
- Conduct other S&S Audits as requested to support continued improvement in S&S site performance
- Quality check of S&S documentation to ensure it is accurate, relevant and useful for the business safety alerts and the like
- Leadership in the collation of the Zero Harm call pack
- Assisting Senior Managers, S& S Professionals, Site Managers and other key stakeholders in the application of the S&S Management System and related processes including the provision of training for such
- Tertiary Qualifications in a Health, Safety or Environmental discipline
- Lead Auditor Health, Safety and Environment
- Experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of company S&S Management Systems, processes and tools
- Demonstrated ability and success in maintaining and continually improving S&S Management Systems aligned to relevant AS MZA / OHSAS / ISO Standards
- Comprehensive working knowledge of S&S legislation, workers compensation, self-insurance license requirements and S&S related Standards and codes of practice
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the utilisation of S&S Management System databases
- Demonstrated experience in S&S reporting and analysis
- Experience in dealing with relevant government/statutory bodies
- Working knowledge of Critical Risk Management
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead multi-site projects.
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence change
