Job Description

The Australian Financial Review is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and persistent individual with intellectual curiosity and terrific people skills to join our growing team as a Sales Executive.

In this role, you will be using all your ingenuity, communication skills, emotional intelligence and sales experience to sell individual and group registrations to our premium series of business events (“AFR Live”), and to drive nominations, paid entries and marketing kit sales on our portfolio of awards and rankings programs (“AFR Lists”).

Day to day you will:
Understand the brief and target market and can clearly communicate the value proposition for each project you are allocated
Brainstorm, research and identify prospects, where they sit in organisations, and the best strategy to connect with them: e.g. via corporate switchboards, LinkedIn, etc
Connect with and influence corporate decision-makers in order to sell enterprise passes to our events.
Identify strong prospects for our lists/awards/rankings, connect and follow up to drive nominations, conversions to paid entries, and sales of marketing kits
Manage and grow sales pipeline and databases of contacts, prospects and relationships
Balance achieving sales KPIs with building strong and trusting relationships with key stakeholders and upholding the premium editorial brand of the Financial Review

Qualifications

What we would like to see on your resume:
Someone who genuinely loves connecting with people, and has a gift for influencing, persuading and selling, especially over the phone
Previous sales experience, ideally in a B2B environment
Outstanding communication skills with a relaxed, confident, intelligent and likeable style
Good creative intelligence and critical thinking skills
Ability to “read the room” and adapt strategy, tone or persona as needed
A highly motivated self-starter who is driven to succeed, takes the initiative, and stays focussed without micromanagement
