About the role:
A SAP FI/CO (Financial Accounting / Controlling) Functional Consultant will play a critical role in managing financial processes and internal controlling of one of the governments key departments.
The area is embarking on a key strategic project to modernise legacy on-premises SAP system with a streamlined, cloud-based offering to enhance useability, modernise integrations and reduce support costs. The SAP FI/CO Functional Consultant will play a critical role in this project to contribute towards the development of requirements for a modern cloud based finance system, that not only fits current needs, but also supports long-term strategic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing the existing core financial management functionality assessment and process to identify limitations and areas of improvement.
- Assessing current SAP system’s integration capabilities and customisations to determine the considerations of future requirements.
- Determine the modular functions within SAP that is currently utilised and recommend improvements that could be beneficial.
- Gathering input from finance team members and other stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations from the new finance solution.
- Implementation and support of SAP Financials (focus on FICO Controlling – Cost Centre Accounting, Unsettled Costs, Month End Close, Overhead assessment, and settlement.)
- Design and build SAP FI/CO solutions, to meet business needs, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivables (AR), Asset Accounting (AA) and Bank Accounting (BA).
- Design, customise, configure, and test various functions within FI/CO modules.
- Support End of Month and Year end closing processes and resolve issues.
- Setting up financial accounting and controlling processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimise existing financial processes using SAP functionality, implementing best practice to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Skills:
- Strong Experience and background particularly in the core business finance functions in SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) area.
- Minimum of 5 years of strong SAP experience Implementing and supporting General Ledger including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Budgeting, Costing.
- Experience in FI integration points with other SAP modules like MM, HR.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance problems within SAP ECC6 and resolve.
- Experience in assessment of current SAP system and finance processes.
- Experience in requirements development for a cloud-based modern finance solution.
