Senior Solutions Architect – Digital Solutions Delivery

Category: Information Technology

  • Parramatta base location – with flexible/hybrid working site.
  • Full time permanent role
  • Support project design to ensure solutions meet business and user requirements and align to Digital strategy.

What will you be doing?

As a senior solution architect within Digital, this role is responsible both for solution delivery and also for leadership across the Digital, Business Programs team.

Your role will involve:

  • Define and implement solutions within the Digital Business programs portfolio, effectively aligning with good practise, agreed patterns and the Sydney Water Digital Strategy.
  • Resource Management, Work Assignment and Governance amongst the Digital Architects
  • Support Architecture Practise Improvement
  • Define and implement solutions within the Digital and Corporate factory.
  • Define, maintain and govern Digital end to end solution designs and estimates to meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with Development teams to ensure that solutions as delivered are aligned with the agreed Solution Architectures.
  • Research and evaluate potential solutions.
  • Work with Architects, Business Analysts and Project Managers in defining business outcomes and product roadmaps.
  • Ensure developed or modified application components align with the business and solution architecture and meet solution performance goals.
  • Balance solution design choices for execution of strategy, cost of ownership, risk, delivery timing and other business or technical constraints to define viable solutions optimised for business value over the life and portfolio of solutions.
  • Estimate the cost of end-to-end solutions. Recommend solution choices according to minimal total cost of ownership optimising strategic content and delivery of enterprise roadmaps.
  • Assess proposed changes for impact on solution design and integrity. Follow agreed change processes.
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture, policies and standards.
  • Ensure that technical life cycle management processes are in place.

Department Overview:

The role sits under Digital Business Programs. This department delivers key line of Business and Corporate Capital Programs. This role reports to Solution Architecture Lead and works very closely with Domain Delivery Lead who manages the Program Delivery for all SAP back-office products like EPPM, Finance, SCM, Procurement, Ariba, Conour, OpenText and SAC. This team provides solution assurance to these products and manages delivery of continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Information Technology architecture
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Solutions Architect
  • Good working knowledge of the Enterprise Architecture function
  • Proven experience in the application of technology solutions to business problems in scale and complexity commensurate with Sydney Water
  • Development and deployment experience on more than one platform
  • Exposure to multiple delivery methods and life cycles
  • Proven track record in delivering solutions within an Agile framework.
  • Experience with both packaged and custom build software.
  • Expert skills and considerable experience in the evaluation of business solutions and technology options
  • Subject matter expert and proven experience in identifying, researching, evaluating and recommending new and emerging technologies relating to business architectures.
  • Tertiary degree qualification in information technology, computer science or similar or equivalent industry experience.
  • ISO Process experience
  • Member professional IT organisations
  • TOGAF certification – Desirable
