Satellite Ground Station Manager

The satellite and space industry in Australia is growing rapidly, and this facility in the Midwest of WA has a serious expansion plan ahead of it in the next few years. From this site the company hosts a variety of large diameter satellite dishes both of their own, and also for international clients. They work in concert with other Ground Stations globally to monitor satellite launches and other space to ground operations. Leading a tight knit local team, you will manage the daily operations of the site as well as the build program.

•  A Bachelor´s degree in Engineering or technical field or similar experience
• Broad understanding of Satellite Ground Station architecture and technical requirements.
• Experience with Satellite Ground System hardware
• A comprehensive understanding of the theoretical aspects of “space-to-ground”

As well as a solid technical background, you will also need

• Project Management experience, professional certification would be beneficial
• Prior line management experience preferred
• Able to work independently and lead others
• Able to make decisions, act and take responsibility even in situations of uncertainty and risk
• Able to take the lead on and solve advanced problems and complex situations
• See the big picture as well as the details

The locationThis facility is located just under an hours drive from the beautiful mid west coastal town of Geraldton. The team normally car pools each day from either Geraldton or Dongara, so you will either already live in the area, or be prepared to relocate. A relocation allowance will be available to the right candidate, but this is not a FIFO role. Sometimes call outs are required on the weekend, so commuting back and forth to Perth every weekend would not be suitable either. We are looking for someone to view this as a long term opportunity and wanting to progress their satellite communication career. You must also have full Australian working rights
