Hunter Water are seeking a SCADA & Automation Engineer to join our Customer Delivery division. This role is responsible for the planning, design and support of SCADA and Automation related projects within the ever-evolving Hunter Water network.

The Opportunity
The role has become available due to an internal promotion. As the SCADA & Automation Engineer you will be supporting the modernisation and automation projects across the Hunter Water network.
What you'll do:
- Engineering support in the fields of Instrumentation, Automation and Control, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), telemetry systems including Remote Telemetry Units (RTU) as well as radio and networks.
- Provision of advice in optimising the operation of existing plant and infrastructure and developing and designing future asset operation.
- Provision of commercial and technical input to contract documentation, schedules and negotiations.
- Provide input and review for infrastructure upgrades and engineering project management including specification and contract document preparation for capital and recurrent projects.
- Fulfil both Quality Assurance and Quality Control responsibilities to ensure effective SCADA and PLC Configuration management and Change Control.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional qualifications and/or relevant experience
- Experience and understanding of the automation systems, control coding and logic structure, hardware components, applications etc.
- Strong experience and understanding with SCADA systems.
- Demonstrated experience with PLCs, Automation, Instrumentation and RTUs
- High level oral and written communication with the ability to involve others in identifying issues and solutions.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in the preparation of specifications and contract documents
- Experience and understanding of water & wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience with Schneider PLC programming using Unity Pro/Control Expert and RTU programming using Schneider E-Configurator
