The position 
The role of the School Nurse is to support the health and wellbeing needs of day and boarding students. The School Nurse is responsible for maintaining programs, which protect and maintain the health and safety of the school community within the framework of the school’s philosophy.

Duties will include:

  • Evaluate and treat students with specific ailments.
  • Provide First Aid to students and staff and at school events such as the athletics and swimming carnivals.
  • Maintain medical records on each student’s health and medical history.
  • Maintain health clinic accounts and invoices (in consultation with school accounts).
  • Monitor and dispense medication based on permissions from parents and GP’s.
  • Develop and maintain positive interpersonal communication with students.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Pastoral Care team in support of all students, including those with additional needs.
  • Build effective communication links within the school community.
  • Model cheerful, prompt and efficient service.
  • Maintain confidentiality in respect of all information relating to the students and the school.
  • Organise the upkeep of medical equipment and first aid supplies at various locations throughout the school and re-stock the health clinic supplies as necessary.
  • Boarding students: Conduct inpatient clinics for boarders, liaise with the school GP, arrange appointments for boarders with allied health professionals, provide regular communication with parents of boarders when their daughter has attended the health clinic, collaborate and communicate with the boarding staff and the pastoral care team, provide mental health support to boarding students when required.
  • Provide advice on appropriate policy needs related to the Health Clinic and, more broadly, student health in the school.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Nursing, with current APHRA registration and a current first aid and CPR certification. 

This is an ongoing, part-time position working during teacher term time Monday and Tuesday at the Senior School Campus and Wednesday at the Junior School campus.
