Summary:
The School Psychologist is responsible for providing support to students, teachers, and parents in the areas of education and mental health. They work collaboratively with school districts, teachers, and families to help students achieve their educational and emotional goals.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psycho-educational evaluations to assess a student's academic, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Develop and implement interventions to address the needs of students requiring assistance in emotional and behavioural domains.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to provide educational support and mental health services to students.
- Provide therapeutic counselling sessions to individuals, families, and groups.
- Develop and manage individualised education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of students with learning and behavioural disabilities.
- Develop and facilitate training sessions for parents, staff, and community members regarding mental health and education-related issues.
- Conduct research and maintain data to evaluate the effectiveness of educational and mental health programs.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students, families, and staff in emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Psychology or related field.
- State certification/licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Experience working in a school setting or related field.
- Knowledge of educational practices, mental health principles, and research methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate training sessions for parents, staff, and community members.
- Experience in conducting individual and group counselling sessions.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
