Role Title: Tuckshop Convenor (Casual Role)
Role Reports to: Trade Shops Vice President and P&C President
Hours: 7:00am – 12:00pm Wednesday to Friday (term time only)
Estimated 35 to 38 per fortnight during term time. Possibility for more hours depending on the candidate and future development plans
Start Date: Mid-May 2024
Pay Rate: $31.81 + Superannuation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe key responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Management of the Tuckshop in accordance with the policies and standards as determined by the P&C Association.
- To actively promote the objectives and goals of the P&C Association.
- To actively plan for and maintain high standards of management and administration of the equipment and tuckshop at all times.
- Stock management
- Manage staffing of Tuckshop
- Ensure correct food hygiene practices are observed.
- To always maintain the Tuckshop in an orderly and safe condition.
- Ensure security of tuckshop
- Maintain regular communication with the P&C Association through the Trade Shop Vice President
- Build good relationships with voluntary workers and encourage a team spirit.
The role requires the development of working relationships with:

- Teachers
- Parents
- Students
- Suppliers
Mandatory:
- Understanding of Smart Choices - Healthy Food and Drink for Queensland Schools Desirable:
- Minimum Competency Standards for “Food Safety Supervisor”

- Highly skilled at preparing, cooking and baking a wide variety of foods
Management and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a team of volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and problem solve whilst under pressure
- Ability to work efficiently without supervision and demonstrate initiative
- Ability to engage and influence volunteers
Communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of communication (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills
- Patience and good rapport with children
- Diplomatic approach, do not engage in and actively curtail inappropriate conversations
- Adopt a positive attitude and respect for P&C, parents, teachers and school leadership team
Organisational skills
- High level of ability to organise personal, and team - time and resources.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects to completion
Systems skills
- Microsoft Excel and Word
Knowledge
- Knowledge of hospitality / small business management systems and processes
- Hospitality experience an advantage

- Tuckshop Opening Hours – 3-5 days per week from 8:30am – 11:00am.
- Hours of duty can be negotiated to suit the needs of the Tuckshop.
- Position is a Casual role, and is covered by Parents and Citizens Associations Award - State 2016
- Working with Children Check - The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires the preferred applicant to be subjected to a “Working With Children Check” (Blue Card) as part of the employment screening process.
- Confirmation of employment is conditional upon the preferred applicant being granted a Working with Children card (type P)
- The position of Tuckshop Convenor at Fig Tree Pocket State School is conditional upon a satisfactory performance review at 12 weeks from the commencement of employment, and thereafter subject to an annual performance review.
- A non-smoking policy is effective in Queensland Government buildings and offices
