Scientific Programmer - Po3

About the Role:
Our Client is a government organisation working on critical scientific research projects throughout Australia.
Seeking a creative and enthusiastic ScientificProgrammer (PO3)  for a 3-month role based in South Brisbane on a full time basis.
The role:

• Delivering science-based information products. Basic command of key programming languages (e.g., Python, Fortran90, UNIX scripting).
• Mathematical/statistical analysis skills through application of data analysis.
• Ability to manipulate, organise and process, disparate datasets efficiently.
• Ability to provide well documented code and ensure other staff in the team are able to use and modify any applications you’ve developed through training and documentation.

Selection Criteria:

Please provide an application that clearly outlines your experience (provide examples) and suitability to the selection criteria outlined below:
 

1. A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent;
2. Experience in development that includes Python, Fortran90, UNIX scripting;
3. Mathematical/statistical analysis skills through application of data analysis to assist the team test and develop new products with respect to pasture biomass, pasture growth, pasture quality, runoff, and erosion.
4. High-level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated skills in developing a range of scientific/technical communications i.e., scientific papers;
5. Ability to manipulate and organise disparate datasets efficiently as required to undertake machine learning or biophysical modelling tasks;
6. Be a reliable team player with the ability to work under limited direction to achieve goals;
7. A keen interest in science, biology or the environment would be advantageous.
