Established in 1950, Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative is 100% owned by fishermen and license holders supplying the Co-operative and is operated for the benefit of members and the communities in which they operate.
GFC specialises in the processing and exporting of Western Rock Lobster. With approximately 70 percent of Western Australia’s commercial rock lobster catch flowing through its supply chain, GFC is the world’s largest rock lobster processor and is a significant contributor to the WA economy.
GFC supports fishermen, employees, licence holders, and their family members along a thousand kilometres of WA’s coastline.

Our work is highly seasonal, with the peak usually between November and March each year. During this time, we recruit heavily to support our operations and offer competitive pay (including overtime/weekend penalty rates) and the opportunity to work 40+ hours a week.
Working hours are generally outside “regular office hours” including afternoons, evenings, nights and weekends (overtime rates and penalty rates apply!). There is a need to be flexible sometimes at short notice.
We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic casual staff to come on board and be part of the team.
Job duties include:
- Sorting, grading, trimming, washing and packaging lobsters.
- Baskets – weighing, tipping, moving, returning and preparation for loading trucks.
- Feeding graders, stun tank and packers.
- Checking tanks – removing weak lobsters; notifications of these removals.
- Ticketing, sealing, taping and stamping polystyrene boxes.
- Cleaning workplace / holding tanks/freezers/waste bins etc.
- Removal of wastes.
For those who show an interest, there are structured training and competency assessments to progress to higher-level Seafood Process Attendant grades and to other positions within the organisation.
Essential Job Requirements
- Safety – A desire to want to work in a safe environment, to be safety conscious. This position WILL involve contact with seafood and shellfish products.
- People – The ability to deal with situations calmly and diplomatically which allows open communication and rapport at all levels of the organisation.
- Technical– Ability to follow and give instructions in English. Basic numeracy, literacy and reasoning are also required.
Desirable
- Experience – worked in a light-to-medium industry production process workplace (preference given to seafood/meat/dairy).
