Secondary School Learning Assistants (Teacher Aids)

John Paul College is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Learning Assistants (Teacher Aids) in our vibrant and supportive Secondary School environment. We currently have two exciting opportunities available:

• Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning (Secondary)
• Learning Assistant - Vocational Education Training (VET)

The role of a Learning Assistants in the Secondary school at JPC is to provide valuable classroom support to our students.

These important support roles will help to create inclusive learning environments; inspire and motivate students to commence and continue required tasks; foster positive relationships; as well as communicate with staff, students, and parents in a timely and respectful manner. 

While the standard hours for this role are 38 hours per week during term time, John Paul College is committed to promoting work-life balance and supporting our employees' diverse needs. As such, we are open to considering job sharing arrangements for this position. Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning (Secondary)

The ideal candidate for the position of Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning Secondary will possess the following:

• Certificate III in Education Support or Certificate IV in Education Support or equivalent qualification, demonstrating proficiency in providing educational assistance and support to students.
• Experience working with Diverse Learning students within a Secondary or Upper Primary context. 
• Experience in supporting students in Applied subjects is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and interact with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work collaboratively within a dynamic educational environment, responding to the diverse needs of students and teachers.
• Organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the completion of administrative tasks and NCCD documentation.
• A genuine passion for supporting student learning and development, with a commitment to promoting positive educational outcomes for all learners.
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines governing vocational education and training programs in educational settings.
• Experience and an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of AARA supports, NAPLAN and the QCAA.

Learning Assistant - Vocational Education Training (VET)

The ideal candidate for the position of Learning Assistant - Vocational Education Training (VET) will possess the following:

• Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent qualification, demonstrating proficiency in providing educational assistance and support to students.
• A Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (desired).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and interact with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work collaboratively within a dynamic educational environment, responding to the diverse needs of students and teachers.
• Organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the completion of administrative tasks and documentation.
• A genuine passion for supporting student learning and development, with a commitment to promoting positive educational outcomes for all learners.
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines governing vocational education and training programs in educational settings.
• Experience and flexibility to work in a range of Learning Management Systems and software.
