About the role
An opportunity has become available for a Security Officer to join The Perth Mint on a Permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for a variety of security tasks at both our primary locations being East Perth and the Refinery at Perth Airport (free parking).
Security experience is desirable, but all applications will be considered on merit. Internal training and ongoing support will be provided to the successful candidates. Must have the ability to work on a rostered basis covering weekends and regular shift work.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Control room monitoring of security management systems including but not limited to, Access control, CCTV Surveillance, and intruder detection.
- Control and manage ingress & egress of all stake holders across the business.
- Maintain asset security, permitter security and infrastructure
- Interact and liaise with members of management on security matters.
- Provide communications across all operational security activities
- Perform general administrative duties and concierge duties
- Screening of persons and baggage across all Perth mint sites
- Report any faults and notify seniors of incidents during and after hours.
- Be an emergency contact point for all departments.
- Assist with development and learning of wider Security team (once competent)
- Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work.
Required Skills & Experience
- Certificate II in Security Operations
- Senior First Aid Certificate / Advanced Resuscitation from an accredited institution
- High level of confidentiality and discretion, with the ability to always act in a trustworthy and ethical manner
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and as an effective team member
- Sound computer literacy skills
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to use initiative and good judgement
