About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an opportunity for a Security Officer to join our team based at our Melbourne Central Offices. This role will support the protective security outcomes as required under the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and internal security policies. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working where suitable.
Responsibilities
As a security professional, Security Officer (SO) you will support both Company and Defence Program level security requirements contributing to protective security of our people, information and assets in support of BAE Systems Australia and Defence capabilities.
The Security Officer will perform the role and duties of an assigned SO for Protective Security as defined in the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF).
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement security policies and plans in accordance with the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Defence Industry Security Program (DISP).
- Maintaining operational security and accreditations across defence classified work areas.
- Managing Security Incident responses by investigating and formulating mitigating and remediation actions.
- Conducting security risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and developing risk treatment plans to address security threat and risk and ensure compliance.
- Supporting security related emergency response functions, roles and responsibilities in accordance with local Emergency Response Plans.
- Coordinating and assisting security clearance subjects through a security clearance process with AGSVA, including aftercare activities.
- Actively monitor, manage and influence the ongoing suitability of sponsored security cleared personnel including their security attitudes and behaviours.
- Capability to coordinate minor projects from a security standpoint and ensuring security guidance and implementation align with ASIO T4 Technical Notes.
- Ability to develop and deliver training and awareness sessions in support of building a positive security culture.
- Generate and distribute security reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
About YOU
- Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a NV2 Defence Security Clearance (essential).
- High level of communication skills to adapt a communication.
- Ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong experience in all Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Sound knowledge of Physical, Personnel and Information Security.
- Good understanding of working with the Defence Industry Principles Framework (DISP) policy.
- Previous security experience in a Defence or industry related environment.
- Defence Security Officer Course (desirable).
- COMSEC Custodian course (desirable).
- Security Risk Management Course.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable).
