Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our organisation. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing various accounting functions and assist in providing financial analysis and reporting, as well as assist in Roads Australia’s transformation and innovation journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with AASB Australian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with Head of Finance and Executive Leadership Team.
- Help conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making and financial planning.
- Assist in the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy of financial statements.
- Assist in developing and implementing internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.
- Assist in treasury management and managing banking relationships.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CA certification highly regarded.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on best practices.
- Strong knowledge of AASB Australian accounting standards and regulations, particularly applicable to not-for-profit organizations.
- Proficiency in Xero and MS Excel. Experience with HR, Spend Management or Forecasting applications is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently when required.
