Senior Accountant - Government

Government department tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Currently seeking three (3) Senior Accountants to join their busy team for a 6-month temporary assignment.About the roleAs a Senior Accountant, you will provide financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets. In addition, your key duties are as follows:

• Analyse and interpret statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
• Coordinate and provide cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems.
• Develop correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation, and responses to ministerial submissions.
• Exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
• Manage quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
• Undertake detailed financial analysis of branch/division’s variance to budget and forecast.
• Perform financial administration and across the division’s cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals.

About you

• Must be a Qualified Accountant in Australia
• Previous accounting experience in a medium to large organisation, ideally with background in Finance Business Partnering.
• Strong background in preparing end of month accruals, and undertaking budget reviews, monitoring and forecasts.
• Ability to provide finance advice that is consistent with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
• Ability to collaborate and resolve issues with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills – to be able to interpret what the numbers actually mean.

• $60.26 per hour + super
