Senior Accounts Payable Officer

The Gateway Group, is an Australian family owned business and a leading national FMCG distributor. Our customers are across a broad range of channels including, route, P&C, food service, chemist and independent grocery. We distribute some of Australia’s most well-known brands. 

We are currently looking for a proactive, driven and dynamic person to join the Finance Team at our head office in Prestons. 

About the role

This role is to be responsible for managing and coordinating the end-to-end Accounts Payable process and ensuring accurate and efficient financial transactions. 

The successful applicant will ideally have a minimum of 5 years Accounts Payable experiences.

Whilst working as part of a team, you will take ownership over the following duties:

• Process vendor invoices, reconciling purchase orders, delivery receipts and invoices with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Allocate invoices for offshore team to process and check accuracies.
• Maintain vendor accounts, track payments and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare & coordinate payment runs.
• Monthly reconciliation of major suppliers’ statements, identifying and addressing any discrepancies.
• Respond to supplier payment enquiries.
• Process supplier rebates.
• Assist in reconciling credit card transactions.
• Petty cash.
• Assist in bank reconciliations.
• Provision of ad hoc support with reporting and general accounting 

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• A commitment to accuracy, accountability, and financial integrity.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Team player
• Ability to cope with high volume transactions on a daily basis
• Have a can-do approach to work and life
