The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
We have an opportunity for an individual to join us as Senior Adviser, Media on an ongoing basis.
The Senior Adviser, Media will provide high-quality and effective media, issues and risk management support and advice with a key focus to business areas, senior executives and ministerial advisers on the department's cyber responsibilities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide comprehensive communication and media advice and services to the department, ministerial offices and stakeholders.
- Identify short and long term strategic solutions that includes stakeholder analysis, reputational risks and issues management.
- Effectively manage media opportunities and responses, including researching and drafting responses to complex media requests, managing issues, and identifying and managing proactive media opportunities and events.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience and awareness of government emergency response protocols and processes and crisis communications.
- Experience providing strategic advice and guidance on media, marketing, digital and communication (internal and external).
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and mutually beneficial relationships across government and with industry.
