The Role As a crucial member of the Digital & Technology Team within Energy Markets Technology and Commercial, this role is pivotal in providing technical development and support for vital systems, data, and technologies.
Some Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and support statistical and financial software solutions critical for quantitative risk modeling and market operations, collaborating closely with quantitative analysts and traders to meet business objectives.
- Embedded within the Energy and Financial Risk team on the trading floor, assist in troubleshooting and deploying complex quantitative systems while supporting day-to-day operations.
- Mentor and support analyst developers in software development and deployment, including prototyping and enhancing statistical and financial software.
- Contribute to the development of technology strategy in the trading space, acting as a liaison between quantitative analytics and technology teams.
- Lead efforts in proposing future enhancements and replacements of systems, ensuring alignment with evolving technology roadmaps and implementing development standards and frameworks to modernise legacy applications.
- University qualification in software engineering or a numerical discipline with strong programming component (e.g. statistics, mathematics, computational science, etc).
- Minimum 4yrs in a Development role using Python
- Intermediate quantitative knowledge including (but not limited to) numerical analysis, stochastic modelling and financial mathematics
- Certification in Database development highly desirable
- Ability to craft detailed technical manuals
- Ability to engage with stakeholders to gather requirements & apply business context to technical solutions
