We are embarking on an exciting journey of data platform modernisation as part of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation. Joining our Data and Analytics team means being at the forefront of driving our business transformation agenda. The Group Data and Analytics team operate as a centralised internal centre of expertise for data and analytics. Working closely with various business units, we ensure seamless integration and effective utilization of data for strategic decision-making.

Description

As the Senior Analytics Engineer, your purpose is to design, construct, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure, enabling our organisation to harness the power of data for informed decision-making and innovation. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll transform diverse data sources into actionable insights, leveraging cutting-edge tools and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance. Your role is pivotal in building the future state of Wilson Group's data platform on Microsoft Fabric.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical mentorship to junior team members, lead workshops, coach on engineering practices, and play a role in Engineering governance. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our data is accessible, reliable, and usable for various business and analytical purposes. As well as maintaining detailed documentation of data engineering processes, data flows, and configurations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Highly fluent with SQL giving you proficiency in building data marts and data warehouses in SQL Server. Previous exposure to data cubes is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Lake.
  • Competent in SQL, Powershell, Python, pySpark, and data & analytics applications such as SQL Server Management Studio and Azure Data Studio.
  • Experienced in designing and implementing a cloud-based data lake/warehouse or lake house solution, including ETL/ELT pipelines from multiple sources.
  • Proven track record in designing, sustaining, and overseeing data pipelines.
  • Understands the business and technology well enough to implement specific, curated data modelling solutions.
  • Creating ETL pipelines and making the data model available for other applications.
  • Manages analytics project lifecycle, from the brainstorming phase to final production and product delivery.
  • Working knowledge of serverless architectures.
  • Working knowledge of version control.
  • Comfortable with the software development lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in data modelling methods such as Data Vault, Star Schema, and Kimball.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services, including Azure Key Vault, Azure Active Directory, Azure Purview Microsoft 365, Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices in Azure.
  • Experience in creating and managing business intelligence reports and dashboards.

Profile

  • A minimum 4 years' experience as a data engineer working on the Azure data stack
