Seeking an experienced Senior Application Packaging Engineer to join a large Federal Government Department

Your new role
Your new role as the Senior Application Packaging Engineer will consist of being responsible for undertaking application packaging in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune for distribution to the required desktop and server endpoints. You will be working under the limited direction of senior staff. You will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy, and in the application of practices and procedures. You are also expected to manage and organise your own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.
In this role your responsibilities will consist of, but will not be limited to:
Automating the installation and configuration of Windows applications (package), configure security patch delivery, Windows feature updates, drivers, language packs, and vulnerability fixes for both windows servers and desktop in a format compatible with Intune and SCCM.
Design, develop, coordinate, and manage application packaging projects.
Package applications and software updates using a scripting language.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis and remediation efforts on major Windows application packaging and deployments.
Diagnose Windows application deployment issues and coordinate package improvements/fixes
Primary Technologies: Windows Server, Windows Desktop, Applications Packager, Rapid 7, Broadcom Data Centre Security Engineer.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate, you will have demonstrated experience and ability in:
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Automate the installation and configuration of Windows applications (package), configure security patch delivery, Windows feature updates, drivers, language packs, and vulnerability fixes for both windows servers and desktop in a format compatible with Intune and SCCM.
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the design, develop, coordinate, and manage application packaging projects.
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the package applications and software updates using a scripting language.
Enterprise knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems, Image Management, Application Packaging & Distribution, performance monitoring tools in a large, distributed environment.
Demonstrated experience in Active Directory / Intune/ DHCP / DNS / Group Policy in a distributed environment.
Expert knowledge of industry deployment tools such as SCCM or any other enterprise application deployment and automation systems.
Experience with enterprise-scale zero-touch Windows application deployments.
Ability to conduct Root Cause Analysis and remediation efforts on major Windows application packaging and deployments.
Diagnose Windows application deployment issues and coordinate package improvements/fixes.
*successful candidate will hold a Negative Vetting 1 Clearance*
What you'll get in return
On offer to the successful candidate:
An initial contract duration of 12-months, until 30th June 2025
Possibility for extension of contract, consisting of 2x 12-month extensions
Work onsite in a Canberra location
