The Senior Solution Architect will be a key player in supporting Westpac’s Data Management, Data Governance, Records Management, and Data Products platforms. You will be instrumental in developing the architecture for our services and guiding their evolution.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical leadership for projects relating to IT solutions in the data domain with specific focus around the capabilities outlined above.
- Consulting and developing solution architecture solution built on a shared data capabilities (eg leverage data products on a data mesh like platform)
- Building reference architectures for the domain capabilities.
- Championing the transition from a monolithic batch-based data architecture towards a domain-centric and micro-services-based architecture.
- Contributing to the domain’s technology roadmap.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below skills:
- Proficiency in information management and governance capabilities such as master, reference and metadata management, data lineage and data quality, records management.
- Extensive architecture experience in IT Industry/financial services or business consulting/strategic planning.
- Experience with data modelling and information architecture (preferably banking related)
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architect disciplines and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
- Strong senior stakeholder communication and relationship skills.
- Exposure to modern data stack technologies such as Apache Spark and Kafka.
- Exposure to modern data architectures such as data mesh, domain driven design.
- Exposure or hands on experience Data Ops (DevOps) on native cloud data platform (PaaS services) and or containerisation over either Azure or AWS.
- Exposure to Big Data/data lake and Data Warehouse implementations (e.g. Teradata, Cloudera, Azure ADF/Synapse, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks)
