To continue delivering our vision we are seeking a Senior Asset Management Officer to ensure the City’s infrastructure and building assets are managed in a planned and effective manner over their useful serviceable life.

The Senior Asset Management Officer plays a pivotal role in the development and management of the City’s Asset Information System comprising an asset portfolio of approximately $1.35B. The occupant provides specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders on the ownership and management responsibilities of City assets and their associated risks and liabilities.

The role is responsible for the collation and maintenance of key data associated with existing and new assets, whilst ensuring key information is captured and integrated within the City’s corporate systems and geographic information system (GIS).  

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Actively engage in the development of new projects for both newly constructed or contributed assets, whilst ensuring the team has operational readiness at practical completion or acceptance of these assets.
• Lead the management of the portable and attractive assets register and undertake regular audits of this data.
• Lead in the statutory revaluations of infrastructure and buildings assets in accordance with legislation and relevant accounting standards.

Asset Management Data Responsibilities:

• Lead the integration of Asset and Financial Management and implement financially sustainable Asset Management practices.
• Ensure asset data for capital works and all asset classes is accurately collected, updated, and reported.
• Compile, prepare and quality assess infrastructure data for input into the City’s Asset Management and GIS systems, including analysis and utilisation of as-constructed drawings and A-Spec data

Advice and Reporting Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist advice on asset ownership and responsibilities, risk and liability implications, as well as established Asset Management procedures and policies.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of corporate strategies and procedures relating to areas of responsibly.
• Analyse and interpret corporate asset data to provide quality advice to senior management in best practice strategic Asset Management from asset acquisition to management to disposal

Essential Skills Criteria:

• Asset management practices in a local government (or similar) environment.
• Using an Asset Management system software or computerised maintenance management software.
• Using GIS software for Asset Management and maintenance.
• Extensive knowledge of asset financial valuation processes relating to capital works projects; and financial Asset Management and Australian Accounting Standards and applications.
• Knowledge of infrastructure and building construction practices.
