You will join CommBank’s Trade Finance Operations team sitting within our Global Trade Operations function within our Chief Operating Office (COO).

The Global Trade Operations team operate in a middle-office environment and are focussed on the delivery and settlement of Trade Finance transactions, providing operational management, monitoring of financial transactions and ensuring clear correspondence to our valued customers spanning in size and complexity across small-medium enterprise (SME) to our Institutional Bank & Markets (IB&M) clients.

The Role.
As a Senior Associate within the Global Trade Operations team, you will help manage the end-to-end delivery of traditional Trade Finance transactions across the Group while partnering with Trade Sales Specialists and product specialists to ensure growth and delivery of service to our clients on their Trade Finance needs.

You will be focussed on Trade Finance funding and import and export Trade documentation for both documentary credit and collection transactions. You will monitor, process, analyse and review physical Trade documentation and transactions against regulatory Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) policies while ensuring each transaction meet the Bank’s and regulators’ risk appetite before releasing it.

You may also be involved in supporting a transformation project where your expertise will be applied across fast paced working environment comprising of system testing, workflow development, procedure documentation, understanding current state and applying to future state operating model, raising and managing system defects.

On any given day you will:

  • Conduct transaction processing of traditional Trade Finance products
  • Support facility implementation for traditional Trade Finance products
  • Assist with client account management in maintaining and growing our client base
  • Support Relationship Managers and Trade Sales Specialists in providing transactional support to them and their clients
  • Service all client requirements with world class service
  • Comply with Bank policies, controls and frameworks, reporting any issues affecting the team to management and complying with all escalation protocols to minimise risk
  • Have daily interaction with CBA’s trade processing business partners
     

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Previous experience in Trade Finance and who are comfortable in reviewing Trade Finance documentation and completing Trade Finance processes. You will have some experience reading, analysing and reviewing Trade Finance documents and transactions and applying a risk mindset, while being comfortable juggling multiple competing priorities.

You will also:

  • Have a solid knowledge on international Trade regulations
  • Have a strong knowledge of AML/CTF and Sanctions requirements
  • Have a demonstrated strong ability to build and maintain customer relationships through the delivery of exceptional service outcomes
  • Ideally hold a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) Qualification
  • Have a solid understanding of risk management covering operational risk, compliance, credit risk, sovereign risk, market risk
  • Have knowledge on the global trade environment and domestic trade industry (is desirable)
  • Have well established stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to convey complex situations simply.
  • Contribute to improving client service by improving processes and reducing errors
  • Have the ability to work as part of a high performing team
