Senior Backup Engineer

Our client, a large Federal Government department based in Civic, ACT, requires an experienced senior Backup Engineer for a long 12 + 12 + 12 month contract.

You will work in a team that is responsible for the management of all data centers, server hosts and virtualization, automation, storage, backup and restore capability.

Duties

• Administration, implementation and tuning of the Department's backup solution (VEEAM)
• Continuous improvement of their backup solution to ensure it complies with the Essential Eight Cyber Security requirements.
• Managing, updating, and configuring the backup storage systems such as HPE StoreOnce, NetApp E-Series Array, HPE Apollo Servers.
• Produce design documents, build documents, operations document, handover and sharing of knowledge.

Selection criteria

• Design, implementation, administration, tuning and troubleshooting of backup technologies such as: Veeam Backup and Recovery, Veeam SureBackup, Veeam Enterprise Manager, Veeam ONE & Application Aware Backup.
• Administration of: HPE Apollo Server, HPE StoreOnce, NetApp E-Series Array, Immutable Backup using Scality & VMware vSphere 8.x.
• Ability to produce design, build and operations documents for processes and procedures.
• An understanding of security directives such as the Essential Eight Maturity Model and Australian Government Information Security Manual.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge with: VMware Aria Operations, VMware Aria Automation, NSX-T and VMware Site Recovery Manager (desirable).
