SENIOR BUILDING SERVICES ESTIMATOR

About the role

Rawlinsons (W.A.) is a Quantity Surveying firm based in Perth, Western Australia. Together with cost management consultancy, we research, compile, edit and publish our nationally circulated annual Rawlinsons Australian Construction Handbook and Construction Cost Guide.

We are seeking to fulfil the full time role of Senior Building Services Estimator.

The position contains two components:

• Primarily, the successful applicant will be responsible for researching and editing the BUILDING SERVICES sections of our annual publications including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics. A key aspect of the role is to establish and maintain relationships with professionals in the construction industry, to enable the smooth and accurate collation of data.
• In the off peak production period, the successful candidate will assist the consultancy wing of the business with services cost management consultancy.

The position will suit an individual with a high-level understanding of Australian BUILDING SERVICES contracting, a strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic theory and installation, and a good understanding of BUILDING SERVICES tender production. Some understanding of quantity surveying techniques is desirable.

Skills and experience

Applicants must possess the following key requirements;

• Excellent written and verbal English
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal employees
• High level of understanding in Australian electrical contracting
• Full understanding of Australian mechanical services contracting (e.g. HVAC technician, air-conditioning mechanic or mechanical SERVICES ESTIMATOR)
• Experience in BUILDING SERVICES estimating (electrical and HVAC/mechanical services)
• First principle cost estimation in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services
• High proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Minimum of eight years of post-degree experience working in the Australian building construction industry
• Understanding of NCC, Australian Standards and other code requirements relating to service trades
• Autonomous worker who can adapt and work flexibly with business requirements
• Capacity to work to tight deadlines in times of intense workload
• A permanent resident of Australia.

Advantageous requirements;

• Knowledge of plumbing and drainage
• Experience in using Cost X estimating software
• Good understanding of bills of quantities and specification writing
• Understanding of quantity surveying techniques.
• Business development skills

• Salary is dependent on experience and will be discussed should you be successful in obtaining an interview
