About the RoleThe Plant Health Policy Branch provides a national focal point for plant biosecurity issues within Australia and has responsibility for the national leadership in managing Australia's plant health. The work of the branch underpins biosecurity and helps to open new, and maintain existing, domestic, and international markets for Australian plant industries.The MTDT program is leading the uplift to the department's plant health diagnostics system under the 21-22 Modern Technologies and Diagnostic Tools (MTDT) budget measure.This program covers the entirety of the diagnostics system - from policy, operations, assurance, information systems, technical capability, and R&D. The Program is integrated with the Science and Surveillance Group who are the primary beneficiaries of the uplift.The Science and Surveillance Group, within the Biosecurity Plant and Science Services Division, is comprised of scientists, operations, and support staff responsible for regulatory advice and training, technical input to biosecurity policy, regulation activity in Torres Strait and diverse surveillance and diagnostic services around Australia.The successful candidate will work with a team of professionals to approach the market for a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) product
Duties- Developing a business case and value propositions for the LIMS solution, highlighting its benefits and features.
- Working with stakeholders to refine and expand the functional and technical requirements and specifications for the LIMS solution.
- Preparing procurement documentation, such as request for quote, tender evaluation criteria, and contract negotiation strategies.
Qualifications- At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or consultant in the life sciences industry.
- Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, biotechnology, or related field.
- Experience with LIMS implementation, configuration, and validation.
What's on offerThe successful candidate will notionally be offered a non-ongoing 12month contract at the EL1 level. Applicants across Australia will be considered.As this role is with the Federal Government, only Australian citizens that hold a current baseline security clearance will be considered for this vacancy.
