🌏We are seeking a SeniorBusiness Analyst to join an exciting new project for one of our premium clients based in Victoria. 

Our client will be undertaking an initiative to deliver a roadmap and vision for the Investment operations function.  This review will incorporate systems, applications and tools currently used within Investment operations and assess fit for purpose solutions.  

The Senior Business Analyst will play a key role working in collaboration with domain architects and will be an integral member of the broader project team. This professional will be entrusted to work with team members, business Subject Matter Experts (“SMEs”) and external peers and partners to build delivery roadmap and backlog. As a key driver for delivery excellence, this role will take the defined roadmap into delivery execution by working with the inhouse delivery team.

In performing these activities, this role will leverage domain expertise gained from prior roles in technology, business analysis and/or consulting engagements, preferably from the financial services industry.  

🔷 Responsibilities:

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for the below:

  • Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring:
    • Partner with key stakeholders to facilitate and drive quality ideation/ discovery of requirements, facilitate options to deliver on these requirements, assess feasibility of those options, prepare detailed proposals, estimates, and facilitate establishment and approval of business cases.
    • Work and challenge vendors to provide high quality solutions to meet business needs.
    • Coordinate estimates from vendors, understand and revise these estimates across all technology components when there is a change to the agreed solution. 
    • Work with the Delivery Lead to control and manage variations to scope, schedule and cost.

Elicitation and Collaboration:

  • Be the main conduit for business stakeholders into the Technology project with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and showcases to agree scope, elicit requirements/use cases, communicate progress on the Technology components of the project and capture feedback and approval from stakeholders. 
  • Work with the Delivery Lead to understand dependencies and the sequence of activities within the overall construction project. 
  • Work closely with the project team responsible for the construction and building fit-out to ensure delivery is well coordinated in a way the reduces technology or construction rework. 

Requirements Life Cycle Management:

  • End-to-end requirements ownership of requirements from idea to launch and operate. 
  • Manage and document changes to requirements, understand and agree impacts of those changes to cost, schedule and quality. 
  • Analyses and maintains traceability between requirements, designs and solution components. Manage how proposed changes to requirements and designs are evaluated during an initiative.
  • Support the Delivery Lead on the end-to-end delivery of the initiative.

Strategy Analysis:

  • Obtain and understanding and work within any legal/compliance, procurement, technology or business policy constraints. 
  • Facilitate the planning and support business readiness activities (such as business implementation, training (either independently or alongside members of the Change team.

Requirements Analysis and Design Definition:

  • Work with internal technology teams (including Architecture, Security, and Investment Data Delivery team) and third-party providers to design solutions that achieve requirements and business outcomes. 
  • Facilitate the appropriate forums to obtain and document agreement to the proposed design/s.

Solution Evaluation:

  • Challenge designs where it is apparent that they are not the best options for delivering to requirements before presenting to the business.
  • Facilitate and actively participate with business and technology stakeholders in the evaluation of solutions proposed in terms of fitness for purpose, value for money, ongoing support requirements, alignment with technical and security policies/strategies and risk of obsolescence.
  • Contribute to UAT test scenarios and test cases that will demonstrate conformance to functional and non-functional requirements, User Stories, Requirements Traceability Matrix, As-Is/To-Be documentation, Mock-ups etc.

Vendor assessment:

  • Support and contribute to solution / vendor evaluation process and procurement documentation.

Contribution to BA Practice:

  • Identify opportunities for improvements and implement changes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness. Promote a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the BA team.
  • Facilitate the implementation of emerging BA methodologies, tools, and technologies provided by the BA Practice.  
  • Promote understanding of BA Practice with business partners across the Agency.

Mentorship and Coaching:

  • Mentor and develop others in the team and contribute to the Business Analyst community at FFMA by providing leadership and support to other Business Analysts.
  • Share expertise and insights to help BAs improve their individual and team performance. 

👉 Experience required for the role:

To be successful in this role you will have the following attributes.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst with previous experience conducting projects in investment or funds management operations environments. 
  • Have a solid understanding of financial services organisations preferably with an Investment Fundamentals qualification. 
  • Previous experience working on Agile delivery projects. Preferably Agile methodology certifications/experience (Scrum, SAFe, etc) and proactive promoter of lean, agile best practices.
  • Expert facilitator in stakeholder forums including backlog refinement, sprint planning, requirement elicitation, process design, training, retrospectives etc. 
  • Experienced in Data management/mapping, technical interface specification development.
  • Experience in process improvement and transformation projects.
  • A seasoned BA with experience in all facets of business analysis.
  • Strong background in delivery outcome focused environments and extensive experience collaborating across Business and IT delivery team.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management across all levels including "Head of" and Director level communication. 
  • Demonstrate strong ability to build relationships with technology and product teams, including influence and negotiate for a better outcome.
  • Be an engaging communicator, comfortable negotiating and influencing your key stakeholder management group.
  • Adaptable and capable in dealing with complexities and ambiguity in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Experience managing multiple activities and issues across numerous projects in a high paced environment.
