In this newly created role, you will provide technical leadership in expanding HESTA's investment data visualization and reporting platform which is a source of critical data that the investment team use for business and investment decision making.
The Senior BI (Business Intelligence) Developer provides technical oversight and a hands-on senior development capability to integrate the data source, warehouse and reporting layers within the BI system. In this role you will also collaborate with the investment architecture and engineering team members to ensure that the BI System aligns with the functional capability and operating model that guides our use of investment data.
Reporting to the Data Analytics Lead you will collate and maintain clear business reporting requirements to drive:
• Implementation of new BI reports,
• Optimisation and standardisation of existing reports (particularly transition of spreadsheet-based reporting in BI visualisation),
• Retirement of existing spreadsheet-based reports, and
• Informed decisions across investments based on accurate data and exceptional visualisation outcomes within the BI System.
You will provide thought leadership on best practice to enhance user interface standards and be a leader in establishing and maintaining BI tools and integrations with a specific focus on ensuring the BI System integrates:
• A Data Source Layer - data warehouse solution
• A Warehouse Layer - including data extraction and aggregation methods, transformation, load and clear exception processes.
• A Reporting Layer - extraction of required warehouse data and working with User-Experience to provide exceptional visualisation.
As a Senior Developer you will provide development consultancy and technical oversight to review and develop the work of other team members and lead the improvement of data analytics.
About you
With a passion for data science and financial markets, you will have natural curiosity, critical and logical thinking and enjoy collaborating with other team members.
The role requires proficiency with SQL, PowerBI, PowerQuery and DAX. You will have experience with the integration of data from multiple disparate sources into a trusted single unified view. This requires knowledge of staging, integrated and reporting data sources modelled using Dimensional, Data Vault and 3rd Normal Form. Ideally you will have experience using R and Python too.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous working environment exercising excellent judgement skills and managing multiple competing priorities. Ideally you will have knowledge of superannuation and investment data management platforms such as Portfolio Management Systems, Risk/Performance systems, Bloomberg, Eagle, Markit, Golden Source etc and knowledge of investment instruments, asset classes etc.
