The Role
You will be part of our Women & Children Services Team which operates 3 shelters, and a Domestic & Family Violence Rapid Enhancement Program across the Central Coast. Success in the role will demand an understanding of the causes and impact of homelessness and an empathic approach to those in our community who may find themselves on the outer.
We are looking for an outstanding Domestic & Family ViolenceSenior Case Worker to join Coast Shelter’s 28day Domestic Violence Rapid Response (DVRE) Program based on the Central Coast. The position is responsible for the coordination and day to day running of our DVRE program, overseeing strength-based case management to support women and their children into stable and safe housing. The position provides support to Case Workers, providing them with professional development and individual case management coaching and feedback guided by the Service Manager – Adults.
All about you
You have a background and passion for working with Women & Children within homelessness and domestic and Family Violence services. You focus on working within a clear, client centred, trauma informed framework and have a demonstrated understanding of case management with assessment frameworks related to child protection, parenting and family work, Family Violence, mental health and drug and alcohol issues.
To be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below;
- Bachelor degree in Social Work/Science or a related field, or minimum 3 years’ experience in case management, ideally working with Women & Children escaping Domestic Violence
- Advanced casework and assessment experience of working in accordance with person centred practice and trauma responsive care principles.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in providing high quality crisis intervention, case management and advocacy support for people with complex needs.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate with a range of colleagues to build understanding and knowledge and improve outcomes for clients, with the ability to adapt approach for the audience and encourage reflective practice.
- Proven ability to maintain boundaries and respond to challenging behaviours.
- Excellent communication with proven written and oral communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office
