We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced procurement professional for the role of Senior Category Specialist.
This is a Permanent Full Time Appointment.
This process may also be used to appoint other similar vacancies for future permanent and fixed term Senior Category Specialist positions across the HSS Procurement and Supply Business Unit.
Senior Category Specialist positions are situated across our Business as Usual function as well as within a number of exciting ICT transformation programs, including the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Program and the HR Management Information System (HRMIS) Program.
A brief summary of each of these major Programs is below:

  • The EMR Program is one of the largest, most complex ICT change programs focused on transforming the WA public health system from paper records to a contemporary EMR, integrating and optimising healthcare. This Program is a key initiative of the Digital Strategy for the Western Australian Government and is commencing the procurement planning stage presenting an opportunity to help shape the procurement strategy from the outset.
  • The HRMIS Program is another exciting large and complex transformation project moving nearly 60,000 WA health workers to a contemporary, cloud-based and integrated HR, payroll and rostering system. The Program is well underway with most major procurement work completed and a shifting focus on strengthening contract management and supplier relationship capability to ensure maximum value is extracted across the diverse portfolio of contracts.
HSS has a significant pipeline of transformation projects now and into the future with opportunities to move into other programs and projects as they arise as well as opportunities to work across the full spectrum of our category management function (Clinical, Services, ICT and Programs).
As part of the Health Support Services (HSS) Procurement and Supply Business Unit, the Senior Category Specialist is responsible for:
  • Managing the end to end procurement and contract management processes that are typically medium - high risk, high value and highly complex involving liaison and negotiation with multiple senior stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Providing strategy development, sourcing and supplier relationship management services to elicit best value for money for HSS and the WA health system.
Please view the Job Description Form (JDF) provides a full statement of duties for the position.
