They are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the team in Camden, with flexibility to work remotely from home. This is an estimated 3-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.
Working within the Assets and Design Services Team, you will be required to undertake investigations and design of civil infrastructure, including the preparation of estimates as well as stormwater design and specification functions. You will be required to project manage external consultants whilst preparing detailed reports and specifications along with providing engineering advice to other departments within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Manage investigations and designs including quantities and estimates for civil works including roads, drainage and traffic facilities
- Preparation of reports for community consultation and internal processes
- Investigate, evaluate, recommend, conclude and report on various engineering and environmental matters
- Undertake environmental impact assessments
- Provide expertise to the Capital Works and Development Engineers regarding various civil projects and engineering specifications including internal and external designs
- Assess the design and impact of the major infrastructure that is being constructed within the LGA
- Carry out site inspections and field work, including final inspections of the major infrastructure
- Provide input for the stormwater levy and other stormwater improvement projects
- Assist other officers in the Design team as required
- Contribute to the development and review of policy and procedures
- Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels
- Strong computer literacy skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Advanced Road Design, surveying instruments, computer aided vehicle turn path evaluation and WaterRide Flood Manager
- Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- Solid analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering
- Demonstrated Project Management experience
- Extensive experience in investigation, survey, design and estimation of engineering projects, particularly drainage, traffic, stormwater and environmental works
- Physically capable of carrying out site inspections and field work
- Detailed understanding of contemporary engineering and environmental works, particularly Water Sensitive Urban Design
- Understanding of community consultation required for major civil projects.
- Valid Drivers licence
- Reliable remote internet access with the ability to work independently from home
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
