An exciting opportunity to join a thriving, engaged team of clinicians providing front-line assessment and brief treatment to complex and acute young people in the South East. Exposure to a multidisciplinary team led by consultant psychiatrists partnering with some of the most experienced clinicians in the wider service, iACT is a highly supportive, collaborative, and hard-working team where clinicians can develop fundamental and advanced clinical skills rapidly.
About the Role
This fulltime role is a Senior Clinician of the Intake, Assessment, Consultation and brief Treatment (iACT) Team within the Early in Life Mental Health Service. The iACT Team provides a centralised, community-based entry point into the broader service for all intake, assessment and community consultation. Young people are assessed and some brief therapy options provided within a limit of six sessions. The team has a strong presence of Senior Clinicians-Discipline Seniors, Consultants psychiatrists and other senior allied health staff.
This position involves leading the central coordination of:
- Internal iACT processes into ELMHS and navigation of ongoing psychiatric support in the community.
- Comprehensive community psychiatric assessment and treatment planning.
- Upskilling and supporting mental health clinicians on the iACT Team with orientation processes, caseload reviews and brief community treatment modalities
- Facilitating clinical reviews and team meetings.
- Strong partnerships with all ELMHS teams, and all teams within the Mental Health Program including CATT/ECATT teams, Stepping Stones, Oasis etc
- Partnerships with external professionals including paediatricians, private practitioners, Headspace, schools, and Peninsula Health
- Monitoring and managing patient flow within iACT and ensuring the prioritisation and allocations of a large number of referrals received by our service.
- Data reviews of referrals flow processes.
- This role supports the iACT team manager role and works alongside the iACT Senior Access Clinician regarding KPIs, operational reports, recruitment and clinical and operational support of the team.
The position is primarily based in Dandenong and the core business hours of this team are 8.30am-5.00pm.
The position is an Allied Health Grade 3, Psychologist Grade 3, RN Div 1 Grade 4
About ELMHS
Early in Life Mental Health Services (ELMHS) provides assessment and treatment for infants, children, adolescents, young people and their families. We work with the 0-18 age in the Southern Region. We provide a comprehensive assessment service and a range of treatment options including inpatient treatment in times of crisis, community (outpatient) treatment, group programs, family therapy, and specialist services. The Intake, Assessment, Consultation and Brief Treatment Team (iACT) provides up to six sessions of initial assessment and treatment for referrals received by our service. We work with families in addressing a number of complex issues that families may be experiencing including school refusal, parent/child relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma related issues, self-harm, suicidal thinking, eating disorders, and psychosis.
