We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Specialist at Perth Office CBD, on a Permanent Full-Time basis.


About this role

As the Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Specialist you will be accountable for governing and maintaining cloud and infrastructure platforms to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance in a secure, efficient, cost-effective manner. 

The position also provides management of our non-production and test environments, ensuring projects have access to them when needed, and resolving conflicts where they arise.

You will also be required to:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to execute the organisation's cloud and infrastructure strategy, aligning it with Western Power objectives and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and maintain the organisation's cloud and infrastructure services, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation within the cloud and infrastructure, monitor expenses, and implement effective cost management strategies.
  • Effectively influence internal and external technical teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective cloud and infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide traceability of deployed software versions across non-production environments by coordinating with internal technical teams and external ICT service providers.
  • Coordinate with internal technical teams and external ICT service providers to procure and provision the non-production environment as required by projects.
  • Log, coordinate and resolve environment defects to provide stable test environments.
  • Monitor and report on project environment usage and availability, drive remedial actions and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement and review of Western Power’s processes, standards, and tools to maximise efficiency and ensure compliance is met.


About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Tertiary qualification in an Information Technology discipline plus at least 5+ years experience or at least 8+ years experience in Information Technology or related discipline. 
  • Extensive understanding of information technology and industry trends
  • Significant experience in a large complex ICT environment with a strong focus on providing cloud, infrastructure, or application support services to service levels
  • Experience providing services to demanding internal and external customers
  • Sound understanding of industry standard information system support processes
  • Extensive understanding of information technology and industry trends
  • Experience operating in a real-time, mission critical environment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and solution identification skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage relationships across the organisation at multiple levels
  • Excellent customer focus background with commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability
