About the opportunity
This is a rare 3-day/part-time opportunity where you will be part of the team responsible for protecting and enhancing Australia Post’s reputation by executing Australia Post’s communications strategy.
This role will have responsibility for creating one true voice in internal and external communications, with an emphasis on Australia Post’s parcels and freight business customers. Working closely with another Senior Communications Manager, this position will work with senior stakeholders to develop and deliver communications that directly support Australia Post’s commercial and strategic objectives.
The role will work with the Head of Team and General Manager to embed the best-in-class practice in the team, as well as manage innovation projects identified by the General Manager and Head of Team.
What you’ll deliver with us
- Help to deliver the business unit’s Communications strategy and develop strategic initiatives to improve communication for team members, customers and stakeholders
- Build trusted relationships with Executive level leaders across the business, prepare briefs, messaging and presentations as needed
- Collaborate with other Business Unit Communications team members to support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance engagement
- Work with colleagues, Executive Managers and Executive Assistants to deliver key events (for instance, Town Halls)
- Identify external media opportunities for the executive thought leadership program and social channels, and work with the Australia Post Media team
- Participate in enterprise-wide project teams on business continuity issues and responses
- Participate in the issues forum, with support of other Senior Communications Managers, Senior Media Manager, and Senior PR Manager
- Support the Enterprise Communications and Media teams, when needed
- Work with the Head of Team to identify opportunities for innovation for the Team and manage innovation projects
About you
You are a seasoned communications expert and leader. Content is your passion and creating campaigns is second nature. Action-oriented, creative and driven by data, you are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You’re inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
What are we looking for?
- 10+ years' experience as a communications professional in a large, complex, and highly regulated organisation
- Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans, particularly in information technology, digital and data
- Excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications
- Experience in working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential
- Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community sociopolitical environment
- Highly organised and efficient
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, change communication and project management skills
- Understanding of issues and reputational impact
