As a Community Safety Officer with Council, each day will be an opportunity to shape a safer and more cohesive community while promoting education and compliance.
We are looking for a Community Safety Officer to undertake animal management and Local Law enforcement. We encourage and maintain compliance through education, mediation, enforcement, and when required, prosecution of breaches against Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and parking legislation.

In your role as a Community Safety Officer at Council, you will work as part of an innovative and close-knit team. Each day presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of Community Safety and regulatory compliance.
You will be able to demonstrate industry knowledge and experience working in Local Government, with a focus on quality outcomes and excellent customer service.
What you will bring to the role
- A substantial and proven background in the field of compliance, preferably within the local government sector. Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance/Animal Management is highly desirable.
- Experience and knowledge required to perform the role of Municipal Fire Prevention Officer.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities within a busy and demanding environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an exceptional ability to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders in a confident and professional manner.
- Demonstrated competencies in negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, and handling complex public interactions.
- Extensive expertise in interpreting and enforcing relevant legislation and industry standards, which includes a comprehensive understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and directives.
- Proficient in evidence collection, statement-taking, conducting interviews, and the preparation of evidence briefs for presentation to external bodies.
- Competent and confident in animal handling of both domestic and farm animals maintaining personal safety and animal welfare.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Murrindindi Shire Council’s Enterprise Agreement. It is also a condition of employment that the successful applicant:
- Provides evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.
- Undertakes a Police Check and, where applicable to the role (refer to Position Description), provides a current employee Working with Children Check.
- Provides evidence of a valid drivers licence as the role requires travel within and surrounding the Shire.
- You'll also join an on-call roster responding after normal business hours and on weekends to call of an urgent nature.
